We are delighted to introduce Amy & Sarah from POLISHED KITCHEN DESIGN … We (Nici Jordan – Move Revolution’s Marketing Director & Mathew Gurr – Area Sales Manager for Haywards Heath Lindfield & Burgess Hill) thoroughly enjoyed meeting Amy & Sarah for a coffee (and natter) at our favourite Lindfield Coffee Works. We wanted to share with you who they are, all things ‘POLISHED KITCHEN DESIGN’ and so much more! Both Amy & Sarah have really interesting backgrounds – when you have a read you will understand their immense creativity, eye for detail – and why they care so much about delivering outstanding work for their clients! Tell us all about how (and why) you have started POLISHED KITCHEN DESIGN… Amy: I was a PR Director for a large cosmetics company in London for 15 years but had lost my zest for it. After doing renovations on our last 2 properties I wanted to follow my passion and try a career in interior design, so I took the plunge and left my job in the city. After completing an Interior Design course I was lucky enough to be offered a kitchen designer role in a local independent design studio who had actually designed and supplied my own kitchen 3 years previously which is when Sarah and I first met. I jumped at the chance as I loved the process of designing my own kitchen alongside Sarah. I think it was fate that we ended up working together! Sarah: I started off my career working for a medical company but quickly felt it was the right career path for me. I’d always had a passion for Interior Design so signed myself up for an Interior Design course at KLC Design college in Chelsea. Whilst I was studying I took on various work experience role with local designers which led me to a local kitchen design company. Soon after working in kitchen design I knew it was the right fit for me I’ve never looked back. Having worked in the industry for 9 years I still have as much passion and enjoyment from my job as I did when I started. Having worked with Amy over the years, we found we really complimented each others working style and it very naturally became apparent we would make great business partners. After many glasses of wine, cups of tea and far too many biscuits we came up with the idea of launching our own business venture – Polished Kitchen Designs. We have been blown away by the support and enthusiasm we have received so far and are excited to see what’s in store beyond our first year. Given you both love of all things ‘creative’ who or what is your main design inspiration? Amy: In my previous career we worked with a lot of fashion designers such as YSL, Stella MCartney, Marc Jacobs and Chloe so it’s always been something I have been interested in. I love how trends span across fashion and interiors and playing with using things like accessories and colour to update a look. I’m a big believer in a classic style that never dates but incorporating more trend led ideas that can bring things bang up to date but that are also easily changed when you fancy a change. I’ve always loved Cole & Son wallpapers and have used them in most of my personal projects over the years. Sarah: We are both fans of Farrow & Ball, they always have such a tempting palette of paint colours to choose from and they are Eco friendly too. Personal favourites are Setting Plaster which is part of the new nude trend, Off Black which my kitchen is painted in and they can’t be beaten for their gorgeous palette of greys…over the years we have used Blackened, Purbeck Stone, Elephants Breath and Downpipe…the list goes on! For affordable, stylish furniture and accessories Made.com really is a go to for me – I always find items I love and their clean and simple designs mean they compliment any style. They also have some great lighting options and many of our clients have sourced their island lighting from here. For me it’s an added bonus that they support independent designers all around the world. The explosion of social media also means there are some amazing influencers out there who have some great style inspiration spanning across fashion and interiors. Here are a few we love on Instagram : Erica Davies The Frugality Rockett St George Come down to the woods Pink House Living In your opinion what is the key design trend of 2019? Amy: Industrial, edgy style kitchens with lots of different textures– thing sleek and contemporary with a mix of metallics, wood, dark hues and a contrasting colour to make it all pop. Don’t get too caught up in matching your metallics as mixing these can be effective and create more interest visually rather than getting too matchy matchy! We love this Second Nature 1909 kitchen which is a stunning example of making a traditional in-frame shaker kitchen more industrial and on trend with the addition of industrial black handles and on trend colours. Sarah: Statement colours are not going anywhere. Don’t be afraid to be bold – dark greens, blues and even black add drama and style to a kitchen, don’t forget you can soften these colours with a touch of warmer hues such as cashmere and blush nudes. The addition of a light worktop will help to bounce the light around your space and always remember flooring plays an important part of your colour palette. A good tip is to get samples and create your own moodboard which will bring your entire concept together. Tell us about POLISHED KITCHEN DESIGN .. what makes you different! If you go to our website you will see out mission statement on our homepage which is: Our passion and motivation is to design and install your dream kitchen, providing all the experience and inspiration you would get from an independent kitchen design studio – without the showroom price tag. Our main aim when we started Polished Kitchen Designs was to make the independent kitchen design experience accessible to a wider customer base. We found that many people didn’t want to buy a kitchen from one of the ‘big sheds’ and felt underwhelmed by the product and service on offer. We also had many comments that they either felt intimidated by the smaller independent studios or that they thought they wouldn’t have anything to suit smaller budgets. By not having our own studio we can offer the same quality product and service but without the showroom price tag. We’ve priced jobs recently which have come very close to Howdens prices, we are confident our product and personalised service is far superior so clients are getting a lot more for their money. We like nothing more than popping back to see our clients and their beautiful completed projects for a cup of tea (we’ll bring the cake!) and natter. The process can take on average 4- 6 months (sometimes even longer if builders are involved!) from start to finish and in that time we build really good relationships with our clients so we have mixed emotions when our projects finish and it’s time to say goodbye. If you are looking for a new kitchen we are in no doubt this will definitely have tempted you to give Amy and Sarah a call! Just go to their website www.polishedkitchendesigns.co.uk or send them an email [email protected] As you can probably tell we loved meeting up with Amy & Sarah – we are passionate about local, independent businesses (just like Move Revolution) who are focused on delivering expertise and exceptional client service … watch this space for more blogs from Amy & Sarah over the coming months. Our guest blogger Michael Knibbs, Managing Director, SafeSite Security Solutions shares with us his top tips for securing your home: If you’ve already put your house on the market – or are even under offer – the chances are your mind is already on your next move, rather than thinking about the property you still live in. However, until the sale has completed your home is still your responsibility and that includes keeping it secure – take the time to come up with a security plan and carry out some preventative measures to protect your property. Your Home Security Plan If you have a monitored home security system in use make sure you keep up your monthly payments – especially if you move out and leave your home unoccupied. Think of your monitored security system as your ‘eyes and ears’ when you’re not there and if there’s an option to alert you or the authorities if the alarm goes off then use it. Signage can also be an effective deterrent. Genuine security notices, including window stickers displayed prominently announcing your home has a security system, can be enough to deter would-be-thieves who will likely move onto an easier target. Home Insurance Your home insurance policy is a fall-back should the worst happen and your home suffers a break-in or is damaged in some way. As long as the deeds to the property remain in your name it is wise to have a home insurance plan in place. It’s also important that you tell your insurance company if your circumstances change, for example, if you move out of the property leaving it vacant. Your insurance provider may also offer additional cover offering protection in the event of vandalism. Installing a few, unobtrusive (but visible) surveillance cameras doesn’t have to cost the earth and it will give you the peace of mind – and evidence should you need it – that you can keep an close eye on your property, even when you’re not there. Lock up your valuables It may sound obvious but one of the easiest ways you can deter thieves is by keeping valuables out of sight and therefore out of their mind. Small items of jewellery, electronic equipment and prescription medication should be locked away Light up Installing motion sensors that detect movement and trigger a security light are likely to stop a burglar in their tracks. The last thing they want to be is in the spotlight. Setting interior lights on timers, to come on at certain times, will also give the impression that your home is in use, even if in reality it is unoccupied. Many smart home security systems can also send you an alert if a motion sensor is triggered so you can monitor any activity around your home, even if you’re not there. Trust your instincts We all have our own personal security system – our gut instinct. If something doesn’t feel right or look right then the chances are it isn’t right. So trust your instincts and put a security plan in place to protect your property and peace of mind. We asked SafeSite Facilities (….as you can tell they are experts at keep your site safe!) to share top tips with us to help you with your exciting plans!
Home improvement health and safety Whether you’ve just bought a ‘do-er upper’ or you’re hoping to add value to your property if you are embarking on any kind of DIY or home improvement project it’s essential you consider any possible health and safety risks and take the necessary precautions before work begins. Here are some top health and safety tips from the professionals at SafeSite Facilitiesto help you prepare for your building project and ensure it runs safely and smoothly. Building Work Basics Before anyone lifts a power tool or knocks down a wall, prepare a plan to safely organise and control the work that’s being carried out – particularly if a number of different tradespeople are working alongside each other. Keep the space clean and tidy with enough room for people to comfortably work in, and around each other. Regularly check the work that is happening and stop any dangerous practices immediately. The best way of keeping hazardous areas safe is to fence them off and display warning notices to direct people and traffic away from them. Safe Structures Make sure walls and structures are kept in a sound condition. Any demolition work should be planned properly and if trenches and excavations are dug they should be fully secured so that people can’t fall in. Height and Weight Considerations Any work being carried out at a height carries a high safety risk so wherever possible try to avoid this. When it can’t be avoided, using proper equipment such as cherry pickers and scaffold can help to minimise falls but always have nets or crash bags in place in case of an accident. Ladders are one of the most common causes of accidents when people are carrying out home improvements so if you’re using one follow these simple guidelines. Choose a ladder that suits the height and nature of the work involved. Make sure it’s standing on a firm surface and – if it’s not – ensure there’s another person at the bottom the hold it steady. While ladders can be used for access, working from ladders should be a last resort. Manual handling is a key part of any building project. Using trolleys and hoists will prevent any unnecessary lifting and carrying. Where possible choose smaller size bags of cement or aggregates and avoid repetitive laying of heavy building blocks and lintels by hand. Power protection Any tools or building work that involves electricity can be dangerous. Make sure your tools are regularly checked over and tested to ensure they are working correctly. Low voltage or battery-operated equipment are a safer option. Electrical connections should be safely made and only suitable plugs used. Cables and leads can easily be damaged on a building site so protect the ones that are visible and mark hidden cables, power sources and services on your master plan so that everyone knows to avoid them. Clean your tools as you’re going along and always place safety guards on – and switch them off – before leaving a room. If there are children in the house make sure tools are kept out of reach when they are not in use. Dress for the occasion Dressing safely is very important; wear old, close-fitting clothes and consider whether you need any safety protection equipment, such as dust masks or safety goggles. If you’re operating noisy power tools always wear earplugs and a hard hat is a must when there’s any risk of falling objects or structures you could bump your head on. In the event of an accident on-site, always keep a well-stocked first aid kit in easy reach. Workforce welfare Whether you are carrying out the building work yourself or you have brought in professionals consider your own welfare and theirs. Working in a building site can be pretty dirty, not to mention cold in the winter months. So ensure you have clean, working toilets, a supply of warm water and drinking water. and a rest area to make hot drinks and eat in. Consider your family, pets and neighbours if you’re planning on making lots of noise and mess. Only carry out work during sociable hours and keep any tools and materials safely out of arms – and paws – reach. Don’t forget to plan how rubbish and waste will be stored and removed and if you’re using a skip think about the impact of where you place it. Let neighbours know in advance what work you’re planning to carry out, and how long it will take. You never know when you may need to call on them for a favour in the future so invest the time to keep them onside throughout the project. The post Urban Chic & Rural bliss – Whyteleafe with Louise Simpson appeared first on Move Revolution. from https://www.moverevolution.com/blog/urban-chic-rural-bliss-whyteleafe-with-louise-simpson/ Our Clients often comment on ‘The Move Revolution experience’, with over 700+ five star reviews, wonderful letters, thank you cards and presents… we know we are different! This email (see below) was received today from one of our very happy Haywards Heath clients – it truly encapsulates the way we work. What it doesn’t say is that we achieved a significantly higher sale price for Dave’s property, over the previous agents who had been marketing his house. If you are in Dave’s shoes, but haven’t had the fortune of meeting Joey (the story will become clear when you start reading) or another of our amazing Sales Managers… please have a read, we know you will want to pick up the phone! Hey Joey My wife and I recently decided to sell our house due to our growing family and initially instructed Purple Bricks due to a past positive experience. However after getting no real traction we also instructed a local high street estate agent. We got a handful of viewings but didn’t feel there was any real drive and we had to do all the chasing to get feedback from the agent and find out if there was any news. After what felt like an age and with no real positive results we were on the brink of changing agents to another well know high street name, but we were conflicted with our decision as to whether or not it would make a difference! On the very same day that we had our meeting with this agent…and as it turns out, luck would have it, Joey from Move Revolution knocked on our door. We don’t usually do people at the door, if you know what I mean but there was something different about Joey and not just his good timing. He was friendly, not pushy at all, professional and very clued up about the local area and similar properties. One of the main things I remember was the quality of the photos that Joey showed us of some of their other properties. It’s one of those things where you don’t really realise what you’re missing out on until you see it. We thought our existing photos were okay but the quality of the professional photos Move Revolution take are on another level!! I don’t think you can underestimate the importance of good quality photos these days as we tend to swipe through hundreds of pictures until we find something that stands out from the rest. Armed with our shiny new pics we re-launched the sale of our property with Move Revolution and the results said it all. More viewings, more momentum, more feedback and ultimately an offer at our full asking price in a very short time! The team at Move Revolution are friendly, professional, enthusiastic and always on hand to have a catch up. They really make you feel like it’s their sole focus to sell your house and the experience was a pleasure. I would whole heartedly recommend Move Revolution to anyone. Thank you Joey and the team!! Hope to see you tomorrow for key handover! Dave We think you will agree the photography is stunning … Would you like to play spot the difference! It’s not appropriate to name the other agent – this is all about showing you the unbelievable difference side by side! So let’s play… you tell use which house you would be interested in viewing! The KitchenThe other agent captures the kitchen, but misses including all the breakfast table – which is a key selling point for the room (the photograph has a strangely ‘grey’ look) Move Revolution Kitchen Photograph – making sure the whole of the breakfast table is shown and stunning lighting The BathroomIs this photograph from the other agent actually straight?! Move Revolution Bathroom Photograph – spot the difference! The Sitting RoomThe other agents photography makes this light, bright room look dark and grey! Move Revolution’s photography – light, bright, airy – a wonderful family sitting room (it also includes so much more of the room) The GardenThe other agent… Move Revolution’s photograph – you know you would enjoy a glass of chilled white wine in this garden in the Summer! It’s not all about the photography (although isn’t it stunning!) – it’s about expert Estate Agency…say hello to Joey Hansen the Sales Manager mentioned in the email… In a nutshell it’s a passion for property and people
It’s all about team work – we are ready and waiting to say hello and arrange a free, no obligation valuation. we have amazing Move Revolution’s team just waiting to hear from you. Call 0330 223 1000 and we will put you through to exactly the right person for your property location – you will be speaking to Joey or someone equally as passionate who is ready to sell your house as quickly as possible for the most amount of money! Join Dave and sell your house with us today! The post Are you missing out? appeared first on Move Revolution. from https://www.moverevolution.com/blog/are-you-missing-out/ Loving Watercolour We have loved selling stunning properties in Watercolour last year and looking forward to selling many more in 2019. Watercolour has a wonderful feel due to it’s unique setting in the countryside, connected to Redhill for easy access to the mainline station and amazing facilities (The Belfry Shopping Centre, new Sainsbury’s, Harlequin theatre, Redhill Memorial Park and so much more), Bletchingley village with it’s country pubs, renowned auction house and wonderful walks, and Merstham with great train connection, increasingly popular Pizza Project (wood fired pizza’s at their best), long established Newtons Violins, specialising in Stringed instruments and quaint Quality Street, which hosts annual events and from which you can access Quality Street Cricket Club and pitch. Louise Simpson, our Area Sales Manager for Reigate, Redhill and the surrounding villages is a Watercolour expert, we asked her to share what she loves about Watercolour and why it is a great place to buy a home… What do you love about Watercolour? Watercolour is really lovely for walks around the lake, this is often commented on by our clients, when I have taken a walk around the lake it is so open and beautiful, not only do you take in the beauty of the lake but also the incredible ‘skies’ that can be seen throughout the year – and my favourite a stunning sunset. Watercolour has been designed with a great deal of thought about the living space inside the houses. As you can imagine I have seen quite a few Watercolour properties over the past years, I love their individual layouts and features, particularly those that you don’t often come across. I fell in love with the mezzanine floor at Mockford mews, this design feature created an incredible space inside the property – I know the new owners found this irresistible There is also a community feel with local shops, pharmacy, and doctors, which is a real pull for those moving to Watercolour from outside the area. What has been your favourite room in the recent Watercolour properties you have sold? It is very difficult to choose, as you know I loved the mezzanine floor at Mockford Mews. However, it would have to be the master bedroom at Lilley Mead, with its walk in dressing area it was exceptional – especially the breath-taking view across the lake as you wake up and go to bed at night! Why is Watercolour so popular? Watercolour is very popular with families and first time buyers, in particular those who commute, as it is so close to Redhill and Merstham main line stations. The development of Lime Tree Primary School with it’s new facilities have added to interest in the area. The Lime Tree Primary School is part of GLF Multi Academy Trust, which has a very good reputation, and is also responsible for the development of the new secondary school in the area. “A Multi-Academy Trust established in 2012, we believe that every child in our schools can achieve the highest academic standards whilst enjoying a vibrant, challenging and rich curriculum. Whilst operating as a part of a family, each school exists in its own right maintaining its own unique characteristics and individual identity” If you would like to find out more about Lime Tree Primary School and GLF MAT I would suggest looking on their website and chatting with local parents who sing it’s praises. Watercolour also has a huge appeal because of if design – modern and stylish… with the canals and the beautifully manicured gardens which are all looked after, I really enjoy showing a potential resident around Watercolour and I know instantly if it ticks all the boxes! What other things can you recommend in the local area? I can highly recommend a visit to Nutfield Priory Farm, with the garden centre on one side of the road, with a brilliant café, and the farm shop on the other side of the road ….it is a treat to visit. It is the perfect place to pick up special cheeses or meat from the butches – they also have an amazing selection of Gin! Stocking COOK meals and a selection of fruit and vegetables it can easily become addictive popping in to pick up something delicious! (I’m not suggesting it is an affordable solution to a weekly shop!!) The Move Revolution Head Office is just around the corner from the farm – which means it is very easy to pop in for a unique last minute birthday present. There is also a Pet shop opposite the farm shop – perfect for anyone with animals! Many of the Move Revolution team enjoy a coffee at The Old Post in Nutfield which a short distance from Watercolour. If you are looking to walk to a local pub from Watercolour.. it is stroll to The Inn on the Pond in Bletchingly – a beautiful setting and the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine or a pint (of the local brew!) The post GOLD AWARD – Celebrating Exceptional Customer Service appeared first on Move Revolution. from https://www.moverevolution.com/blog/gold-award-celebrating-exceptional-customer-service/ How much do you love Flori’s (from Squiggle Dot & Squeeze) blogs.. they always make us smile, give us amazing ideas – and this blog is no different. As many of your know Flori is one of Move Revolution’s Guest Bloggers – her focus at this time of the year is very much family and friends. She has created a blog with this focus… Slowing the Pace for a Peaceful ChristmasIt is time to slow down cosy up and leave the world outside the front door. We have had weeks of dashing about and endless lists to complete. At every turn something calls for our attention. With this blog post we didn’t want to add to the to do list with craft projects that involve more work for the already stretched parent. I am also really feeling a need for less is more this Christmas. Less stuff more time. A pause to create space to be grateful and in the moment. All very idyllic but with young children not always possible. We have created a printable for you, we promise no glue or glitter needed. The first is a Christmas eve/day activity. I read that the tradition of getting out for a walk on Christmas day after an afternoon of indulgence is losing its place on the list of British Christmas traditions, as we opt of tec and t.v and mud free, over fresh air and wellies. I am clinging on to our walk tradition we don’t go out for long or far but we have a little street wander and yes you guessed it use our Christmas printable to keep the kids engaged. It keeps us all in the moment and distracts us from frozen noses. We promise hot chocolate on our return and savour the feeling of warmth when we get back in doors. Lets keep the Christmas walk tradition alive. After so much plenty our second printable makes space for some reflection and is great to use between Christmas and new year. We all do it and then read out each others. Its a wonderful keep sake in the children’ s memory boxes, and we love to see what they remember it also makes us chat as a family about our year and we suddenly realises how many blessings we have enjoyed, the trials we have over come and the dreams that lie ahead.
All that is left to do is wish you a merry Christmas and we look forward to sharing some Squiggle Dot and Squeeze creative fun with you in 2019. In the mean time if you need some creative inspiration find us on Instagram or Facebook @squiggledotandsqueeze and for us to celebrate your crafty master pieces use #squiggledotandsqueeze If you are looking for your dream house… just give us a call and chat to us on 0330 223 1000, why not book a valuation at the same time.
